2 Jobs

I feel spoiled. . .

My husband works 2 jobs - what a man! He gets it done! And he looks good doing it! He spends his mornings serving coffee to early risers and then spends his late mornings/afternoons/evenings taking care of youth.

My kids (without prompting from me) pray regularly thanking God that I get to be home with them!

If this is my job . . . making dinners for my husband & kids, cleaning, making sure all is taken care of for my man when he gets home . . . I can do that!

I know it may appear to be the "traditional role" and boring, but I actually like it. In fact, with a husband like Matt and kids that are always thanking me for what I do - how can I not enjoy it?

I am a pessimist at heart. So the days I actually realize life is good - I thought I better write it down.

12th Anniversary

I just have to tell you- We have the best kids in the whole world.
Yesterday was our Anniversary and these wonderful kids brought us breakfast in bed!
It was so cool because after that they sang to us and then did a puppet show for us.
It was the best part of our day. Peace-Mateo

Matt's Ordination

Many of you know that in order to be missionaries wtih the C&MA the husband needs to be ordained. So Matt had started that process years ago. International Teams does not require ordination, but Matt being the man he is followed through with the process and completed his ordination on November 7th!! I am so proud of him! There will be an ordination service held here in Tucson on February 25th at 4:30 pm. So now we can all call him Rev . . . the Reverend . . . the Revmeister . . .

Matt would never share this with anyone himself not just because he doesn't like titles but also because he wasn't sure that being ordained was necessary - he just wanted to complete what he had started.

Letter

So, Hopefully by now some of you have received our prayer letter and our new prayer card. By the way I need to give thanks to the rightful people. Katrina (our friend from WI) took the picture of us in front of IT's building and she did a good job! Susan took that picture and put it all together and designed the beautiful card. If by chance you didn't get one we are truly sorry and would love to send you one. Let us know by email: mattheum@yahoo.com

France

So we have been praying for God's direction in all of this and we believe that France is where He wants us to be. We will be taking a exploratory trip to France in the near future to determine which IT team we will be working with and in what city. We would llike to be in France sometime in 2007. As of October 13th our training is done and we will be driving up to Appleton, Wisconsin to do some more support raising. We are looking for people to be on our financial and prayer team. If this interests you then contact me at mattheum@yahoo.com for more information. ~Peace

Training Here We Are!

Wow- what a year! God brought us to Tucson October of last year. We are now finding ourselves in Chicago going through International Teams 5 week intensive training program. We are excited to be here! We miss our kids who are with grandma right now. We will see them on the 21st.
As we are in Chicago. Susan's parents are in Oregon taking care of great grandma. She is not doing well at all. The doctor says she has only a week left. Please pray for Susan's parents they have been going through a lot of tormoil recently with healthy eyes and great grandma and Steve H. going to be with the Lord from cancer. It's been tough for them. So please pray. :)

We are in a good place right now and we are excited about what God is going to teach us here.

Peace,

Charlie needs a good home

Before we head overseas we need to find a good home for our dog Charlie. He is part Newfoundland but is small. He looks like a Labrador. He is very friendly. Doesn't bark or bite. He is an outside dog and fetches raquetballs. We live in Arizona where it is very hot. He would do much better in a cold climate. Let me know if you want Charlie as your pet. Leave a comment attached to this post if interested

Evidence of God and His plan

In the last couple weeks God has continually confirmed to us that His plan is for us to go to training with International Teams. One thing in particular is His provision of 4,000 dollars from a generous supporter. Training is around 5,000. Thank You God! It is so cool when we as believers in Christ take a step of faith and then He confirms that step and then we take another and then He confirms that one and then we take another one. Cool. We fly out a week from this Saturday. A week and a half. Please pray for our travels. And if you would need some prayer for anything please let us know how we can pray for you. mattheum@yahoo.com

Peace,

Matt

Moscow, Russia

This is a picture from our trip in January 05. We went to an orphanage and we were able to bring lots of clothes for them. It was short but very cool to be able to show love to these kids. We told them the true meaning of Christmas. They celebrate on News Years a holiday but it is not about Jesus. So we told them about Jesus.

Peace,

Kids Playing Mouse Trap

While Jason & Sheila are in Africa their kids enjoy playing games with their cousins. We have had a full house but these kids have been gems. Good kids and very helpful. Way to go Parents!

We have had so much rain there are actual weeds growing in the yard. Today was hot and a tad humid.

Nana is back from Oregon and her eye is healing. Yeah!

Susan finishes her job soon and we are reading the books and doing assignments for the coming training in September. We bought our plane tickets a week ago and we have a date to get the kids passports in process. Please pray that we get everything done in a timely manner and that raising financial support begins well.

"Over the Hedge"

Saturday at 12pm the mail lady came to our door while I was putting my son down for a nap. The doorbell rang and I ran to answer it only to find a big envelope with the return address from Elgin, Illinois this is where International Teams is located. With excitement and uncertainty I picked up the envelope and took it to the couch to open it. I then began to feel nervous and wonder what if IT doesn't accept us. Maybe this is a letter to say thank you but no thank you. I then called Susan to tell her and she came home to do the honor's of opening the envelope since I was a tad reluctant. Guess what? She opened it and it said........Welcome to International Teams! Whoa.......!
Nothing to worry about.
So I guess I better get plane tickets since we will be flying to Chicago in just over 6 weeks. As I said earlier the training is 5 weeks long from September 8th through October 13th. Hopefully we will be able to go up to Wisconsin and down to Indiana to see some friends during that time.

Peace,

MC

Fear

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself! I have been thinking about fear lately after seeing one of my kids stricken with fear. For me it was not a big deal but to her it was the difference between life and death. She didn't get her homework done, then she was scared that she was going to miss the bus, and then she froze. At that moment I realized she couldn't motivate herself to do anything because she was afraid of the future. Frozen with fear. How many times do you or I find ourselves holding back or frozen because of fear. Maybe it is the unknown that you are afraid of or maybe you know but you are still afraid. God says in Genesis 26:24 "Do not be afraid for I am with you." He was talking to Abraham and giving him a great promise of what was to become of his life and then He says, "Do not be afraid." Wow. Life sometimes seems very uncertain but He will be with us! Check out this video of a cat that has no fear. And remember if a cat can jump in head first we should too! Peace

Please pray for God's provision!

http://www.iteams.org
September 9th is coming very soon to a theatre near you. Susan is finishing her job on the first of September. We are planning on flying out to Chicago on the eighth of September and leave the kids with Nana and Papa for two weeks while the girls finish their first quarter of school. Then we are flying back to pick them all up and take them back for the last three weeks of training. Our babysitter from Wisconsin is driving down to watch the kids while we finish.

The training expenses and room and board come to $5,000 and the traveling to and from come to $1,400.

Would you be so kind to enter into prayer asking God who owns every dime in this world for His provision.

You are so kind!

Peace

New News: International Teams Training

O.K. So we have been pursuing Missions and we believe God has opened doors for us to apply with International Teams. As you may know Susan & I have been working hard to pay off our loans. Since October 15th we have been living in Arizona. We figure that we had about $29,000 in student loans and a car loan of $6,000 totaling 35,000 when we came here. On May 8th we finally sold our Saturn for $6,000 and since then we have paid off many loans. The student loans that we still have add up to about $22,149.74 if we pay it off today. So that means we have paid off $6,850.26 in Student loans and our $6,000 Saturn, which equals paying off 12,850.26 in 8 months! Praise God!

Now, we have new news about our training from September 9th to October 13th in Elgin, Illinois (Chicago). It will cost us, for a family of 5, for 5 weeks of training about $5,000. We believe that God is calling us to the mission field and so this training is necessary for us to to serve with International Teams. I tell you all this because I believe God uses people to support missionaries, through pray and financial support, to do the work of God's Kingdom and I believe that if you serve God He will bless you. I am just letting you know how you can help us serve the Lord and help you be blessed!

If God is laying on your heart to pray for us then check this website regularly and pray for us. :)

Thanks,

The Colemans

Were back!!

Em & I had such a great time seeing friends in Wisconsin. The Jimenez's wedding was beautiful and Katrina graduated! We had a great time as a family getting back and going to dinner at Mimi's Cafe. We even stopped and saw Jason and Family. Yesterday we had a fun time with all the kids setting up chairs. Nathaniel could pull a chair all by himself by tipping it on two legs. All of them including Tanner sang songs on the stage and danced. Nana is still having trouble with her eyes, please pray for her. Today is her birthday. We will be celebrating it tommorrow night with the whole clan. Lance and his family are going to be here tommorrow at noon and they will stay till July 5th.

Peace,

Matt

Preaching this Sunday

I'm preaching on Acts 21:1-26 this Sunday. Called "Fear of the known" or "Live for Christ or die trying." Basically Paul is going to Jerusalem because God wants him to go but the future looks grim. A prophet and Phillips daughters prophecy that Paul will be bound up and thrown into prison. In "The Message" in verse 13-16 it says that Paul told the people weeping about his departure that the issue is not what they will do to me in Jerusalem but the issue is what will Christ do in Jerusalem because of my obedience.

"What will Christ do because of our obedience." It is about passion in our lives and I am sking for prayer because I seem to have lost some of my passion.

Hope,

Matt

Paying debt

We have been in a long process of paying off all of our school loans so that we could go work overseas. We recently sold our Saturn and along with other loans we have paid off a total of 12 thousand dollars in 6 months. :) Yeah! Praise God!

Peace,

Matt

Happy Birthday Susan

Tonight we are celebrating Susan's birthday by going to her parents house and BBQing! It is so nice to be near family at this time.

Peace,

Matt

A new thang

We are putting together a place where you, our friends, can come and look to see what is new with the colemans.

A Father's Wound

I knew of a man who had a childhood one rarely speaks of. The kind of childhood where the pain of reality is too great to discuss. The wound...
